Earlier known as Alleppey, the place
is also visited for its marine products,
coir industry, rice, bananas, yams
and cassava. Visitors feast their
eyes on sights of rare migratory birds
at Pathiramanal, hardly half an hour
drive away on a speedboat. Tourists
also enjoy performances of India’s
finest temple musicians at the local
Mullakal temple, held in December.
The Krishnapuram Temple and St. Andrew's
Church are other tourism attractions
in the area.
