Munnar Hill Station

This is a beautiful hill station engulfed with never ending tea plantations; situated 133 km from Cochin at an altitude of 1800 meters above see level. The hill station on the Western Ghats of Kerala has lakes, reservoirs, forests and tea estates within its vicinity.

The hill stations stands serene and picturesque at the confluence of three rivers of Kerala – Muthirappuzh, Nallathanni and Kundala, and hence the name “Munnar”. The literal meaning of ‘Munnar’ in local language is “three rivers”. The three rivers are in fact the three mountain streams.

A paradise for a nature enthusiast, the hill station is a major hub of entire Kerala’s tea industry. The hill station also flaunts the highest peak of South India, called Anamundi, which is around 2695 meters high. Remarkably, Munnar has also been a favourite amongst Europeaon settlers for ages. The area receives a very heavy rain fall during June to September, which in turn renders life at stray and inconvenient.

So it is suggested to visit the place anytime throughout the year barring the monsoons season, i.e. between June to September.
