Situated
in the Wayanad District
of Kerala, Muthunga Wildlife
Sanctuary (or Wayanad
Wildlife Sanctuary) lays
close to Bandipur Tiger
Reserve and Mudumalai
sanctuary. It is one of
the finest known elephant
habitats in peninsular
India and has been included
in the Project Elephant
scheme. Home to the tiny
Mouse Deer, the forest
also houses Wild Boar,
Sloth Bear, Malabar Giant
Squirrel, Bonnet Macaques,
Langurs, Gaur, Sambar,
Cheetal, Four Horned Antelopes
and Black Bucks in plenty.
