Tree House Holidays

Kerala offers an exotic opportunity to tourists to stay in a tree house, which may be anywhere between 20 to 90 feet above the ground mounted on a treetop. The view from these tree houses is panoramic. Built and maintained extensively by the local tribal people, these houses are made up of purely eco-friendly materials, such as coir mats, bamboo poles, hay straws, live trees (as pillar) et al. Essentially a modified version of "Erumadam", or house used by the tribal to escape attacks of wild animals, are now a popular tourist attraction for all those seeking a peaceful and quiet time in the lap of mother nature.

The tree house holidays offer a calm and relaxed feel of life, with a number of walking trails to explore, each promising to be a different quest. These trails are carefully drawn up so as to prevent any disturbance to the surroundings.

Placed on rain forest surrounded by coffee, tea, cardamom, and pepper plantations, the tree houses are well furnished with all the basic facilities like bedroom with attached bath and flushing toilet, telephone shower, wash basin with running water, balcony with carpet cover and sit out within the tree house.

Tourists get up the tree houses using an indigenous cane lift, which works with a combination of pulleys and counterweights of water.
